NEW DELHI: A grand bowling and batting performance by Sydney Sixers helped them dominate Yorkshire in their Champions League T20 match at Newlands in Cape Town.

Scorecard

Chasing a small target of 97 runs, Michael Lumb (43*) and Brad Haddin (41) blasted the Yorkshire bowling attack that helped finish the match with 67 balls remaining.

Lumb and Haddin put up a swift 78-run partnership for the second wicket soon after Ryan Sidebottom struck with his very first ball of the match to scalp the lethal Shane Watson.

Watson (11), who started well in the first over to lead their chase of 97 runs, fell in Sidebottom's trap when he was caught comfortably at deep square leg by Joe Root.

Earlier, a fierce Sydney Sixers bowling attack restricted Yorkshire to a meager score of 96 in their Champions League T20 match at Newlands in Cape Town.

After losing their openers in quick succession, Yorkshire struggled to get runs on the board. Andrew Gale and Phil Jaques got Yorkshire off to a steady start but the duo was dismissed quickly.

Josh Hazlewood struck first when he bowled Yorkshire skipper Gale (8), who completely failed in his attempt to scoop the ball towards fine leg.

Mitchell Starc then joined the party when he got the better of Jaques (21) and had him caught at deep square leg to rid Yorkshire of its openers.

Gale and Jaques put up a steady 30-run partnership for the opening wicket right after Gale won the toss and decided to bat against Sydney Sixers.

Root (25) was next in line to be dismissed when Moises Henriques uprooted his off stump to add further misery to the English side.

Australian star Shane Watson then picked up where he left off in the previous match when he sent Adam Lyth and Dan Hodgson back to the dressing room.

While Lyth (18) tried to slice a low cull toss ball and could only find Ben Rohrer for a simple catch, Hodgson scooped a slower delivery straight to Steve Smith.

On the other hand, Pat Cummins added more feathers to his CLT20 wickets tally when he scalped Adil Rashid and Gary Ballance to make the Sydney intent crystal clear.

Rashid (1) and Ballance (8) both were taken comfortably by keeper and skipper Brad Haddin.
