NEW DELHI: Chasing 141-run target, Chennai Super Kings suffered a massive blow when they lost Suresh Raina against Yorkshire in their final Group B match of the Champions League Twenty20 at Kingsmead in Durban on Monday.

Scorecard

Raina tried to revive Chennai chase as he added 48-run third wicket partnership with Subramaniam Badrinath after losing Faf du Plessis and Murali Vijay in quick succession.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby ended the crucial stand by removing Raina to give Yorkshire vital breakthrough.

Yorkshire pacer Steven Patterson struck to give Chennai Super Kings early jolt as he dismissed du Plessis.

Earlier, Gary Ballance smashed five sixes in his 58 runs knock to steer Yorkshire to a challenging 140/6 against Chennai Super Kings.

Gary Ballance and David Miller shared 78-run stand to resurrect Yorkshire after losing quick wickets against CSK.

Yorkshire got off to a bad start as they suffered early blows, losing Andrew Gale, Adam Lyth and Joe Root in quick succession.

Albie Morkel struck to give Chennai first breakthrough as he dismissed Gale. Ben Hilfenhaus joined Morkel in the next over to give Yorkshire another jolt by removing Lyth.

Morkel notched up another wicket in his next over to leave Yorkshire tottering at 43/3 in 8 overs.

Gale and Lyth gave Yorkshire steady start after Chennai Super Kings stand-in skipper Suresh Raina won the toss and decided to field.

Already out of the semifinal race, IPL heavyweights Chennai Super Kings would look to redeem some pride and end their campaign on a high when they take on a less-formidable Yorkshire.

Both Chennai and fellow IPL side Mumbai Indians have crashed out of the tournament after Sydney Sixers and Highveld Lions qualified for the semifinals from Group B.

Even before the first ball was bowled in Saturday's IPL derby between Chennai and Mumbai, the match was rendered a dead-rubber after Lions notched up a five-wicket victory over Yorkshire earlier in the day to become the second team from Group B to reach the semifinals.

Chennai Super Kings: Murali Vijay, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina (Capt), MS Dhoni (wk), S Badrinath, Albie Morkel, Ravindra Jadeja, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ben Hilfenhaus, Doug Bollinger
