Kolkata thrash Hyderabad by 48 runs

NEW DELHI: Eoin Morgan's breezy 47 and Jacques Kallis' all-round performance helped Kolkata Knight Riders register a comprehensive 48-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 17th match of the IPL 6 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Kallis finished with 3 for 13 to help KKR restrict Sunrisers to 132/7 in 20 overs.

Chasing 181-run target, Sunrisers Hyderabad were never in match as they got off to a slow start given by Parthiv Patel and Cameron White. The openers added 57 runs in 9 overs.

Hyderabad suffered dramatic collapse as the asking kept on increasing and they could never get going.

Thisara Perera showed some determination with his 25-ball 36 but it was not enough to take Hyderabad home.

Kolkata Knight Riders' Sunil Narine struck to remove Ravi Teja and leave Sunrisers Hyderabad in huge trouble in the 17th match of the IPL 6 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Jacques Kallis rocked Sunrisers Hyderabad's chase as he dismissed Parthiv Patel and Cameron White in quick.

Rajat Bhatia also joined the party after Kallis' double strike, removing Kumar Sangakkara to leave Sunrisers tottering at 71/3 in 11.1 overs.

Eoin Morgan blazed his way to 21-ball 47 to help Kolkata Knight Riders post a massive 181-run target for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Morgan smacked five fours and three huge sixes in his flamboyant knock and added 67-run stand in 30 balls with Jacques Kallis to leave Sunrisers bowlers clueless.

Kallis also played handy knock, smashing six boundaries in his 27-ball 41 before got run-out on the last delivery of the innings.

Morgan and Kallis led Kolkata Knight Riders with flurry of boundaries after losing Gautam Gambhir.

Ashish Reddy gave Sunrisers Hyderabad a huge breakthrough by dismissing Gambhir. Skipper Gambhir led Knight Riders from the front as he notched up 39-ball fifty with the help of six fours and a six.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's Karan Sharma broke the 59-run opening stand between Kolkata Knight Riders' Manvinder Bisla and Gambhir. Karan struck in his first over when Bisla played it to the deep mid wicket where Hanuma Vihari pouched it safely.

Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a good start as their openers Bisla and Gambhir scored 48 runs in the first six overs of mandatory powerplay and laid good foundation for the hosts in their must-win game. Gambhir smashed a boundary over midwicket to complete half-century stand.

Earlier, Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir won the toss and opted to bat against Sunrisers.

Knight Riders have made one change, bringing in Sachithra Senanayake in place of Ryan McLaren while Karan Sharma has replaced Anand Rajan for Sunrisers.
