NEW DELHI: Chasing a 140-run target, Chennai Super Kings were in deep trouble as they lost half their side inside 35 runs against Mumbai Indians in their IPL 6 match at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The Mumbai party started when Mitchell Johnson dismissed opener Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina and S Badrinath in the third over to rattle Chennai after Mumbai posted 139/5.

Johnson bowled out Vijay (2) and then got Raina (0) caught by Kieron Pollard in consecutive deliveries. Though the pacer missed the hat-trick, he struck again on the fifth delivery to trap Badrinath (0).

Soon after, debutant Pawan Suyal struck to dismiss Dwayne Bravo (9) when the Mumbai pacer's short of length delivery was smacked by the West Indian straight to Ambati Rayudu at extra cover.

Harbhajan Singh then rubber more salt on the Chennai Super Kings wounds when he clean bowled Ravichandran Ashwin (2).

Michael Hussey (22) then tried his level best to hold the Chennai innings together, but failed in his attempt when the Aussie was caught by Dwayne Smith at deep midwicket off the bowling of Pragyan Ohja.

That brought Ravindra Jadeja to the crease who put up a brave 12-run stand with skipper MS Dhoni to halt the falling of wickets for a while but Ojha scalped Dhoni (10) soon after.

Earlier, a late show by Rohit Sharma (39* off 30) and Harbhajan (25* off 11) inspired Mumbai Indians to score 139/5 against Chennai Super Kings.

The precarious Mumbai Indians batsmen got off to a bad start as they were jolted early in their innings by Chennai Super Kings all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Bravo.

Jadeja drew first blood for the Super Kings when he caught Sachin Tendulkar (15) plumb after Mumbai Indians got off to a slow start.

Soon after, West Indian Bravo caught his compatriot Smith (22) off his own bowling when the Mumbai batsman got a wicked top-edge.

Tendulkar and Smith put up a 40-run stand for the opening wicket after Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat in bright and sunny conditions.

Jadeja then stuck twice in quick succession to dismiss the dangerous duo of Pollard (1) and Dinesh Karthik (23) when both the Mumbai batsmen were caught by Raina in the outfield.

Ravichandran Ashwin then joined the wicket taking party when he got the better of Rayudu's stumps and thereby foiled all plans that Rayudu (10) had to steady the innings.

Mumbai Indians head into this match with just one change as seamer Suyal replaces Dhawal Kulkarni, who misses out due to an injury.

On the other hand, the Chennai Super Kings bring in Ben Laughlin in place of Albie Morkel.

Teams:

Mumbai Indians: Dwayne Smith, Sachin Tendulkar, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Rohit Sharma (Capt.), Kieron Pollard, Ambati Rayudu, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell Johnson, Lasith Malinga, Pragyan Ojha, Pawan Suyal.

Chennai Super Kings: Murali Vijay, Michael Hussey, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (Capt. & wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Subramaniam Badrinath, Chris Morris, Ben Laughlin, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohit Sharma.
