MS Dhoni hits first Indian ton at PCA

NEW DELHI: Indian skipper MS Dhoni became the first ever Indian to hit a century at the PCA Stadium in Mohali when he slammed an unbeaten 139 against Australia in the third one-day international on Saturday.

The PCA Stadium in Mohali has staged 21 one-day internationals in total since its inauguration in 1993 and none of the six ODI centuries scored there have been by an Indian batsman.

The closest that any Indian came to the three-figure mark was when the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar scored 99 against Pakistan in 2007.

Dhoni, in his scintillating 121-ball innings, rescued India after early jitters by hitting 12 boundaries and five impeccable sixes and helped India set a massive 304-run target for the Aussies.
