NEW DELHI: Electing to bat first, skipper AB de Villiers and in-form Quinton de Kock steadied the South African innings against India in the final one-day international of the three-match series at SuperSport Park, Centurion on Wednesday.

Scorecard

Continuing his excellent run in the series, De Kock reached his fifty off 71 balls as he put on a crucial fifty-run stand with De Villiers for the fourth wicket. De Kock hit six boundaries to achieve the milestone.

South Africa were in a spot of bother when they were reduced to 28/3 in 7.4 overs after losing wickets at regular intervals.

Ishant Sharma produced a brilliant over (8th) as he struck twice in it without conceding a run to rock the South African innings.

Ishant dismissed JP Duminy (0) and Henry Davids (1) in three balls to reduce the hosts to 28/3 in 7.4 overs. Both batsmen gave simple catches to Suresh Raina in the slip.

South Africa started their innings on a wrong foot as they lost opener Hashim Amla (13) early in the fifth over.

Pacer Mohammed Shami gave India a crucial breakthrough, when he struck in his very first over to dismiss Amla and reduced the hosts to 22/1 in 4.3 overs.

South Africa have made three changes for the game as Henry Davids, Wayne Parnell and Imran Tahir are included in place of Jacques Kallis, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel.

For India, Yuvraj Singh replaced Ajinkya Rahane in the playing eleven.

Earlier, South Africa skipper AB de Villiers won the toss and decided to bat.

Having conceded the series with humiliating back-to-back defeats, India aim to salvage some pride by winning the third one-dayer, in order to gain confidence ahead of the two-Test series.

It will be redemption time for Dhoni's men at the Super Sport Park after two embarrassing losses in the first two matches which also exposed the famed batting line-up's inability to cope with pace and bounce of the South African tracks.

India suffered a 141-run rout in the first ODI at Wanderers and then another 136-run defeat in the second ODI at Kingsmead.

Teams:

India: MS Dhoni (capt.), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma.

South Africa: AB de Villiers (capt.), Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy, Imran Tahir, Ryan McLaren, David Miller, Wayne Parnell, Vernon Philander, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Henry Davids.
