Mills strikes, England lose Hales early

NEW DELHI: After losing Alex Hales early, Michael Lumb and Moeen Ali put up a gritty stand to stabalise the England innings in their ICC World T20 match against New Zealand at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Saturday.

The Lumb-Ali duo put up a quick-fire 50-plus run partnership after England lost opener Hales to Kyle Mills in as soon as the first over.

Hales (0) was caught brilliantly by Corey Anderson at mid-off after New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum won the toss and decided to bowl against England.

While New Zealand head into the tournament fresh and pumped up after victories over India in Tests and ODIs, England have had disastrous encounters against Australia and the West Indies.

Talking about strengths, New Zealand will reply heavily on their batting with Martin Guptill, Ross Taylor, Brendon McCullum, Luke Ronchi and star Corey Anderson at their service.

England, on the other hand, have worries of their own due to the lack of form of Eoin Morgan and persistent knee problems that trouble captain Stuart Broad.
