NEW DELHI: Chasing a massive 191-run target, Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals against Pakistan in a crucial Group 2 league match of the ICC World Twenty20 at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.

Scorecard | Super 10 Standings

The hosts lost four wickets inside 10 overs to be reduced to 47/4 in 9.1 overs.

Bangladesh started their chase positively as they added 30 runs quickly but the script changed dramatically when Umar Gul dismissed Tamim Iqbal (16) in the fifth over.

Earlier, opener Ahmed Shehzad slammed unbeaten 62-ball 111 to boost Pakistan to 190/5.

Unconquered Shehzad smacked five huge sixes and ten boundaries in his magical knock as he became the first Pakistani batsman to score a century in Twenty20 Internationals.

Shahid Afridi also played a blinder in the end as the all-rounder smashed two sixes and a four in his quick-fire 9-ball 22.

Shehzad added 83 runs with Shoaib Malik (26) for the fourth wicket to lead the resurgent of the Pakistan innings after they lost Umar Akmal (0) and skipper Mohammad Hafeez (8) in three balls to be reduced to 71/3 in 9.2 overs.

Shehzad was the chief aggressor as he raced to his fifty in just 30 balls, which included two sixes and five fours, and continued his momentum till the end.

Spinner Abdur Razzak struck in the fifth over to give Bangladesh big breakthrough as he removed Pakistan opener Kamran Akmal (9).

Shehzad made the maximum use of the mandatory powerplay as he smashed five fours and a six to help Pakistan get past 50 in overs.

Pakistan got off to blistering start after skipper Hafeez won the toss and decided to bat.

Pakistan have made one change, bringing in Sohail Tanvir in place of Bilawal Bhatti. Bangladesh brought back Abdur Razzak and left out Sohag Gazi.

Pakistan are gearing up to take a step forward towards semifinal qualification as they aim to get past an out-of-sync Bangladesh.

A victory against Bangladesh will officially end Australia's theoretical chance of qualifying for the last four as George Bailey's men can win only two matches from here on.

The victory will also make the West Indies versus Pakistan clash on April 1 a virtual quarterfinal, which will decide the second team from the group after India.

For Bangladesh, they are hoping against hope that they are able to pull a coup of sorts by upsetting the Pakistan applecart.

Teams:

Pakistan: Ahmed Shehzad, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul, Zulfiqar Babar, Saeed Ajmal
