Ashwin bowls out Amla, SA two down

NEW DELHI: Off-spinner R Ashwin ended Hashim Amla's challenge by bowling him out after his 16-ball-22 to give South Africa second blow at the score of 44 in the sixth over in the second semifinal.

Ashwin's carom ball pitched well outside leg before turning unexpectedly to hit the off stumps, leaving Amla surprised.

Amla was looking dangerous as he lifted South Africa after initial blow. He slammed four boundaries during his knock and shared 35-run partnership for the second wicket.

Earlier, pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck in the first over to get Quinton de Kock (6) caught behind after South Africa elected to bat.

Kumar's swinger kissed Kock's willow before going straight to keeper Dhoni's gloves at the score of (9).

Indian squad remain unchanged, while Faf du Plessis is back as South Africa captain.

India will look to capitalize on South Africa's two perennial problems — a weakness against spin and inability to win knockout matches in ICC events.

India will once again rely on the trio of Amit Mishra (leg-spinner), R Ashwin (offie) and left-arm-tweaker Ravindra Jadeja to unsettle the Proteas, who are being led by Faf du Plessis.
