CLT20: Akshar, Miller help Kings XI win

MOHALI: Southpaws David Miller and Akshar Patel got Kings XI Punjab out of jail in their Champions League T20 match against the Barbados Tridents at the PCA stadium on Saturday.

The duo added 47 runs in just 3.1 overs for the seventh wicket, helping KXIP win by 4 wickets, the home team's second consecutive win in the CLT20.

Coming together at 1316, Miller (46 not out, 34b, 3x4, 2x6) found an able ally in Patel (23 not out, 9b, 3x4, 1x6), who took 20 runs off the 19th over, which was bowled by Ravi Rampaul.

Miller finished it off in his typical 'in-the-arc, out-of--park' style, depositing the ball into the stands for a maximum.

It was the perfect T20 potboiler that went into the last ball of the match. Australian T20 champions Perth Scorchers needed 12 runs off the last two balls against South African T20 title-holders Dolphins.

Marsh steals the show and match

Scorchers' Mitchell Marsh pulled off the near-impossible task as he deposited Dolphins' death-over specialist Robbie Frylinck into the stands twice to win the game for his side. Marsh (40 not out off 26b; 3x4, 2x6) in the end, turned out the trump card for Perth.
