According to BCCI sources, Dhoni is scheduled to leave on Wednesday and is expected to be with the Indian team before December 5. The first Test begins on December 9 after the schedule was revised.
It's not yet clear whether Dhoni will play in the first Test or not.
Owing to a hand injury, Dhoni had not been named in the original squad for the first Test, earlier scheduled to be played in Brisbane from December 4 and Dhoni was slated to join the team for the second Test which was originally starting on December 12.
However, Dhoni, it's now emerging, will take a call on playing the Adelaide Test after reaching Australia. Dhoni has been pracitising for more than a week now and is said to be ready to take the field.
"It all depends on how he feels and accordingly he will decide the next course of action," a top BCCI official told TOI.
