With the wicket getting slower, the hosts face an uphill task on Sunday. With a decent lead of 103 runs in the bag, Mumbai openers Akhil Herwadkar and Shrideep Mangela gave a good start to the team on Saturday. But Yusuf Pathan broke the 45run partnership in 14th over when he clean bowled Herwadkar. Shrideep fell soon to a quick single as Saurabh Wakaskar took a perfect aim at the stumps to run out the opener. First innings centurion, Mumbai skipper Aditya Tare and Suryakumar Yadav too couldn't add much to the scoreboard. Mumbai were down to 84 for four in 24th over.
But Shreyas Iyer and Siddhesh Lad pulled Mumbai out of trouble by stitching a partnership of 114 for the fifth wicket. The hosts survived a scare when Kedar Devdhar was hit on the back of his head while fielding at short leg. Siddhesh pulled a delivery off Yusuf that struck Kedar at the bottom of his helmet. He complained of dizziness and was taken for a CT scan immediately. The reports were normal, said Baroda coach Tushar Arothe.
