MUMBAI: The new regime of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold its first working committee meeting in Kolkata on April 14-15, it is learnt.

The board is likely to constitute the new governing council of the IPL, which would have already begun almost a week earlier, at this meeting.

The IPL GC was supposed to have been formed at the AGM of the BCCI on March 2, but the exercise was delayed. Apparently, current BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya has been handed two separate lists by the pro and anti-N Srinivasan groups regarding the names in the GC.

The technical committee of the BCCI will meet on April 7 in Kolkata. The committee is likely to consider recommendations of captains and coaches.

Amroha: Mohammad Shami, who won plaudits for his sterling show at the World Cup recently, has gladdened the hearts of villagers in his native Shaspur Alinagar by buying 40 bighas of land in the village for building a cricket academy for underprivileged children.

On Tuesday, Shami signed a deal to purchase the 11 bighas of land from farmers in his village in Amroha district, according to his lawyer.
